VideoMohamed El Hosseny started his career as a musician, then a dancer, in Suez folklore troupe as a young schoolboy. After a few years he became the trainer of the troupe. He joined the state Reda Troupe in 1992, and devoted himself to dance, leaving his studies of Oriental languages in Cairo University behind. Performing with Reda Troupe, Hosseny got to travel worldwide.

Besides Egyptian folk dances, Hosseny studied also ballet and performed with the ballerina Diana Calenti for several years.

As a charismatic and ambitious dancer with a powerful and versatile technique, he got to perform all solo parts with Mahmoud Reda's private dance company, among them the male solo in the Rubabikiya operette in 1999. Also featuring in many TV-shows, he got to be known to the Egyptian audience as the first male dancer of his country.

Hosseny is the director of El Hosseny Dance Company, founded in 2005.

As a teacher mastering all styles of Egyptian dance, including besides folklore, classical and modern forms of Oriental dance in which he has developed his own characteristic style, he has nowadays many students from different countries, and he has also taught in festivals, among them the Ahlan wa sahlan festival in Cairo. Being an innovative choreographer, he has gained an enthousiastic audience with his exciting work in Haflat Shamsina show (Helsinki 2005) and Layali Simsimiyya, a hilarious spectacle with live music (Helsinki 2006).

Hosseny is currently based in Helsinki, Finland, where he teaches weekly classes and workshops. He also does workshops in other locations in Finland as well as other countries (See News).

Beside dance, Hosseny also works in the field of graphic design as well as sound and video editing.
